It was quality when he came out of retirement and did our match with Palace last season on MOTD, complete with old style gfx.

Eamon Dunphy...

not a house hold name in England but he's on the panel for the RTE coverage in Ireland for the football.

This bloke is fucking hilarious, plenty of youtube action for him, well worth a watch.

Here's my favourite.

Remember listening to Fighting Talk on BBC 5Live... nearly crashed my car as I honestly could not believe what I was hearing.

Detail below is from Wikipedia, but as I recall it. Bloody hell...

WIKI

Fighting Talk made national news with an episode broadcast on 12 March 2005.

The panel consisted of Danny Kelly, Will Buckley, John Rawling and Stuart Hall.

The presenter, Christian O'Connell, asked the panel "What other former all-conquering nations, clubs or individuals would you like to see have a renaissance?".

Stuart Hall responded "Zimbabwe", and criticised what Robert Mugabe had done to the country, saying "...don your flannels, black up, play leather on willow with Mugabe cast as a witch doctor. Imagine him out at Lords casting a curse; tincture of bat's tongues, gorilla's gonads, tiger's testicles...".

Shortly afterwards, O'Connell was heard to ask studio staff "Are we still on air?"

During the same show, Hall was also asked for his opinion on sporting stars acting as role models for young people.

In his response, he defended swearing by footballers suggesting that "your average 10-year-old can instruct you in oral or anal sex".

Oh. No. Did he just say that? My once-like of him was from thence destroyed. But he WAS a good commentator. Though that counts for nothing.

Stuart Hall was very witty and had great delivery. Once had me cracking up with a radio monologue he did about Michel Vonk.

Massive shame about the other stuff because you're right, you can't really say he was anything else other than a very bad man, now.

Re: Commentators of the past
Stuart Hall's radio reports and commentary were hilarious and erudite. Once described Paul Ince as “toiling like a Stakhanovite”. Look it up. You don't get that from Paul Merson.

But Hall can't be mentioned now, of course.

Don Howe kept calling Faustino Asprilla "Asperilla" which is a fruit-based fizzy soft drink, and bloody "Sampamadoria" when he did the Serie A commentary, dozy old sod.

Tony Gubba's "oh no, oh yes, oh no" attacks were equally as annoying

Nobody even comes close to Brian Moore as a football commentator, the man was pure class with a mic in his hand.
